The crowds come for Arlington Row, those honey-coloured weavers cottages that turn up on calendars and postcards as one of the most photographed streets in England. Coaches and cars edge through the narrow lanes all year round, and that constant squeeze is where the trouble tends to start.
Add the pinch points by the arched stone bridge over the River Coln, the comings and goings at Bibury Trout Farm, which has been running since 1902, and the busy spell around The Swan Hotel by the water, and you get the usual run of knocks.
