Burford sits right on the edge of our patch, perched above the Windrush where the Cotswolds proper begin. Getting your car to us is easy enough: take the A361 south out of town, run down through Lechlade, then join the A417 for the last stretch into Fairford. It is around 11 miles and rarely more than 20 minutes, which makes us a sensible choice for a town with no body shop of its own.
A pretty town that is hard on paint
That famous High Street is a picture, but it is no friend to bodywork. It drops steeply down to the medieval Windrush bridge, narrow and busy, with parked cars on both sides and a steady stream of visitors who do not know the road. Add the pinch points by the Tolsey, the old timber market house, and you have all the makings of a clipped mirror or a scraped door.
Then there is the Burford roundabout, where the A40 meets the A361. Plenty of traffic funnels through the Gateway to the Cotswolds, and plenty of small knocks come out of it. We put all of that right and make it look like it never happened.
